CLASS FIELD TRIP

On Thursday, June 9th, our class, ASR 390, held a great field trip to my favorite museum, MOMA in NYC, to view the current exhibition of exciting, contemporary, multi-disciplinary artist, Francis Alys. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Alÿs

He offers free video in the public domain, too, an unusual move:

It is very hard to choose just one favorite, but I do have two favorites. First: “When Faith Moves Mountains” – 2002

I took a photo which is related to his project. “Sisyphus” in Greek mythology was condemned to push a ball uphill and it always came back down. My photo was shown at the Lyceum Gallery, Riverhead, New York, used as the poster for the p.r. for this exhibit, and published in “East End Arts Magazine”.

The other work I especially appreciated was “Rehearsal 1”: http://www.moma.org/interactives/exhibitions/2011/francisalys/#/moma/rehearsal-1
